The Hunter 386 is a 38-foot fiberglass cruising sailboat built to deliver spacious accommodations and comfortable handling. This 2003 example features a wide 12.6-foot beam and 6'6" of cabin headroom that create an open, airy feel despite the yacht's modest size. A single 40-horsepower Yammer diesel engine provides reliable propulsion, and the design has earned recognition for its well-proportioned sail plan and practical layout suited to family cruising.
Below deck, natural light floods the interior through large fixed windows and multiple overhead hatches. The salon centers on a U-shaped settee with a large dining table and straight settee to port; the dining table converts to a berth if needed. Galley and head occupy the starboard and port sides respectively, while forward lies a V-berth with its own wash area and aft sits a queen athwartship cabin with direct head access. A nav station to port offers workspace and electrical system controls. Throughout, LED lighting and 12-volt fans are standard, and reverse-cycle heat and air conditioning is ducted to all living spaces.
The galley is fitted with Corian countertops, a top-loading Adler Barbour refrigerator and freezer, double-basin stainless sink, three-burner Force10 propane stove with oven, and microwave. Abundant storage accommodates provisions and gear. The head includes a Jabsco manual flush toilet, separate shower area, and vanity.
Recent improvements include new sanitation hose and holding tank plumbing (2024), a new sink and faucet in the forward cabin wash area (2025), and fresh seals on large fixed windows (2020). Dinghy davits, two 110-watt portable solar panels, and a washdown pump have been added in recent years. Woodwork throughout shows minimal wear for the boat's age.
