The 2003 Mainship Pilot 34 is a downeast-style express cruiser built on proven lobster boat hull design. Twin Yanmar 240 hp diesel engines deliver economical power with a cruising speed of 18 knots and maximum speed of 20 knots. The plumb bow and rounded forward hull sections cut cleanly through head seas, while flatter aft sections provide lift and stability. The deep full keel with sand shoe protects the hull and contributes to the boat's sea-keeping abilities. Yanmar engines and generator show low run hours.
The layout follows the downeast tradition with the primary stateroom forward, opening via louvered doors into the main salon for ventilation. A large dinette to starboard converts to a double berth with storage underneath. The galley runs along the port side and includes a stove, microwave, refrigerator, and ample counter space. Aft of the galley is a full head with electric marine toilet and shower. A color TV with swivel mount serves the forward stateroom, galley, and dinette areas.
Wide walk-around side decks with high rails provide secure footing, and a transom door eases boarding. The cockpit features double-wide helm and companion seats flanking a hydraulically-assisted engine access hatch. Side lounges serve as additional berths with removable backrests. Navigation and communication equipment includes GPS plotter and VHF radio. A generator with sound shield, heat and air conditioning, bimini top, windlass, and built-in insulated cooler box round out the systems and amenities.
