2004 Lagoon 380

Herkee is a 2004 Lagoon 380 catamaran that has been substantially modified since 2020. The boat was dis-masted and repowered with twin Yanmar 3JH40 diesel engines installed in 2023, creating a motor catamaran design. The removal of the mast lowered the center of gravity and reduced motion in rough conditions, while producing a 13-foot air draft and uncluttered deck. The engines have been run approximately 1,200 hours and completed their 1,000-hour service in May 2026. At cruising speeds, the boat achieves 6.8 to 9 knots depending on throttle setting, with a 52-gallon fuel capacity providing roughly 240 miles of range.

Power and onboard systems reflect recent upgrades. A 1,600 amp-hour lithium battery bank supports twin 3,000-watt Victron inverters rated for split-phase 120/240-volt output. Ten solar panels provide primary charging, backed by a portable 1,500-watt generator. Navigation relies on a newer Raymarine electronics suite with N2K engine connectivity. Starlink Gen3 satellite internet is installed. The boat is plumbed for a water maker and carries a composting head.

The layout includes four cabins and two heads. The fourth cabin has been repurposed to house the solar power management system, additional refrigeration, tools, and storage rather than sleeping accommodations. A newer refrigerator is fitted in the galley. The 38-foot-by-21-foot-6-inch fiberglass hull carries diesel fuel and fresh water, with auxiliary systems designed for extended cruising with minimal dependence on shore power.
