2004 Menger Cat 19

The Menger Cat 19 is a classic gaff-rigged cruising catamaran built in fiberglass by Menger Boatworks. Designed by David Menges and produced from 1990 through the early 2000s, this 2004 model offers stable, roomy cruising with a 19-foot length and 8-foot beam. The plumb stem, wide stance, and large rudder create a steady platform under sail. With roughly 270 to 310 square feet of sail area, the boat performs well in light conditions, though early reefing is recommended as wind builds. The boat reaches 7 knots at full speed with a cruising speed of 5 knots, powered by a Yammer 1GM10 inboard diesel engine.

The layout includes a cabin with settee, galley with a slide-out sink and storage, and a newer head. The cockpit is outfitted with cushions for comfort. A tabernacle mast system supports the gaff rig, which carries two reef points—the first activated by a single-line jiffy system from the cockpit. Standing and running rigging are both in good condition, and the original 2004 sail remains serviceable with its cover included.

Maintenance completed in late 2024 and fall 2025 includes a rebuilt and stiffened rudder, bottom sanding with fresh bottom paint, and an oil change using synthetic oil with a new filter. The teak trim, bow pulpit, and boom rests were recently varnished. Two Group 24 dual-purpose 12-volt batteries sit in newer secured boxes. The boat includes a lazy jack system, wind vane, CQR anchor with chain and 100 feet of line, bilge pump, running and cabin lights, compass, and a custom swim ladder. A trailer is included along with a winter cover.

Safety gear aboard comprises three vest-style and two overhead-style life jackets, throwable cushions, four dock lines, and two fenders. Additional items include oil filter socket, wrench, and extraction pump. Manuals and everything on deck at the time of showing transfer with the boat.
