The Beneteau First 47.7 is a 48-foot cruiser-racer designed by Bruce Farr. Built with molded fiberglass construction, the yacht combines performance capability with the comfort needed for extended offshore passages. A single Yanmar diesel engine of 76 horsepower provides reliable propulsion, with engine hours at approximately 180 when the boat was purchased in 2010.
The layout includes three cabins and two heads arranged for comfortable cruising. The deck plan and steering system were engineered as part of Farr's comprehensive design, which extends to the sail plan and rigging—all conceived to balance racing performance with cruising practicality.
The boat underwent significant upgrades in 2018 ahead of an extended cruise to the Bahamas and back, returning to Toronto in June 2019. Since that time, cruising has continued on the Great Lakes with ongoing maintenance and improvements to systems and equipment. The yacht is in active condition and equipped for both sheltered waters and offshore passages.
