This 2005 Beneteau Oceanis Clipper 523 is a 53-foot fiberglass cruising sailboat built for serious offshore passages. Powered by a 100 hp Yanmar diesel with a folding propeller and bow thruster, the yacht maintains a cruising speed of 11 knots and draws 1.8 meters, allowing access to shallow anchorages. The sail plan includes a battened mainsail with three reefs, furling gennaker, 135% furling genoa, and jib, supported by four Lewmar two-speed electric winches. Additional equipment comprises a hydraulic gangway, Raymarine autopilot and multifunction display, two 1.2 kW solar panels, a 6.5 kW generator, and a watermaker.
The layout accommodates four cabins and four heads. The forward owner's stateroom features a queen berth with air conditioning, ensuite electric head and shower. Two aft guest cabins with double berths, air conditioning, and private heads serve as accommodation for guests. A forward twin-berth crew cabin with full ensuite completes the sleeping arrangements. The saloon features fine cabinetry, and the galley is equipped with two refrigerators and a microwave.
Significant recent work includes a complete bottom job to gelcoat with three-coat antifouling in April 2023; rudder service with new bearings and propeller shaft bearing; and replacement of the watermaker and generator. A Yanmar 1000-hour service was completed in November 2023, along with a new mainsail, heavy-duty staysail and storm jib, rigging survey, and new Selden spinnaker pole system. July 2024 brought standing rigging replacement with U.S.-quality wire and fittings. The sails have been similarly renewed, with new storm and full-size staysails and a code zero remake with 50% new cloth. A custom stainless steel davit system was installed, and a 3.4-meter Highfield Classic dinghy with 15 hp Honda outboard is included.
