2005 Catalina 36

This 2005 Catalina 36 MKII is a shoal-draft cruising sailboat built on the proven design that has made this model a standard in offshore sailing. The hull features a wing keel drawing 4 feet 6 inches, allowing access to shallow anchorages while maintaining stability. Power comes from a Universal M35B 35-horsepower diesel engine paired with a Hurth transmission, delivering a cruising speed of 6 knots and maximum speed of 6.5 knots. The rig includes an in-mast furling mainsail, a 150% furling headsail on a Schaffer 2100 furler, and a full complement of Garhauer hardware. A Maxwell 800 electric windlass with foot switches handles ground tackle work.

The interior offers two staterooms and one head arranged across the beam. The forward cabin features a v-berth with private access to the head, hanging locker, and drawer storage. The aft stateroom provides an athwartships double berth with portlights, a hatch for ventilation, hanging locker, and storage drawers. The main cabin combines a bright salon with an L-shaped settee, convertible dinette, and additional seating that converts to a single berth. The galley, positioned to port, includes a gimbaled Hillerange propane stove with oven, Adler Barbour 12-volt refrigeration, a microwave, double stainless-steel sink, and ample storage. The head features a shower, sink, and bench seat with generous storage and dual access from the main cabin and forward stateroom. Natural light and ventilation flow through 7 opening hatches and 5 side-opening portlights.

Recent maintenance includes a new dripless cutlass bearing, freshly serviced maxi-prop with balanced replacement, Trinidad bottom paint, new Jabsco head, new zincs, air conditioning service, new aft cabin cushions, oil change, full hull waxing with three topside coats, rigging inspection and cleaning, and a new outhaul. The in-mast furling main is three years old; the headsail was serviced in 2025.

Electronics include a Raymarine autopilot with p70 controller, ST60 wind/tri-data/depth instruments, a Garmin chartplotter, and Standard Horizon VHF radio. A 2000-watt inverter with 100-amp charger, dual 30-amp shore power connections, and 110-volt outlets throughout support the 16,000 BTU air conditioner and cabin systems. Hydraulic steering with a folding Lewmar wheel, dodger, bimini, davits, and a full suite of canvas covers complete the setup.
