This 36-foot Hinckley Picnic Boat 36 EP is a downeast cruiser built with premium construction methods. The hull uses Hinckley's DualGuard composite construction—Kevlar and E-glass outer skin with aircraft-grade balsa core below the waterline and carbon-fiber inner skin, all SCRIMP-laminated with vinylester resin. The deck combines E-glass, balsa, and closed-cell foam core. Powered by a single 440-horsepower Yammer six-cylinder diesel engine with Hamilton Jet Drive, the boat reaches 28 knots and cruises at 29 knots. Throughout, varnished teak detailing defines the interior and deck work, from the pilothouse to the toe rails and cockpit coamings. Recent updates include new cushions and recovered helm chairs in spring 2023, a custom cockpit sunshade with carbon-fiber poles added in spring 2021, and LED lighting conversions throughout.
The extended pilothouse layout combines helm and social spaces efficiently. Forward is a V-berth accommodating two with cherry interior joinery and storage lockers. The galley to port features Corian countertops, a two-burner Force 10 stove, Adler Barbour refrigeration, and a microwave. A private head to starboard includes a Sealand Vacu-Flush toilet, shower, and cherry cabinetry. The pilothouse seats four around a hinged teak table with an L-shaped settee aft and two forward-facing Stidd helm chairs. The cockpit aft features a full-width settee with an integrated wet bar in the engine box and a molded seat facing forward. Teak decks throughout the pilothouse, cabin, and cockpit complement the overall finish.
Current navigation electronics include Garmin Reactor 40 autopilot with GHC20 display, a Garmin GPSMAP 8616xsv chartplotter with Fantom 18 radome, Garmin AIS800, and Icom M602 VHF. The electrical system uses three 12-volt batteries totaling 540 amps with an 80-amp alternator, a Heart Interface Freedom 10 inverter/battery charger, and dual distribution panels for DC and 110-volt AC circuits. The engine received a 1000-hour service in spring 2019. Dual 80-gallon aluminum fuel tanks provide 160 gallons total capacity, supplemented by a 35-gallon water tank and 6-gallon hot water heater. Deck equipment includes a Muir electric windlass, polished stainless Delta anchor with chain and rode, and custom stainless hardware throughout.
