2005 Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 49 DS

The 2005 Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 49 DS is a 49-foot fiberglass sailing yacht designed by Philippe Briand with the distinctive raised deck salon layout. Built on a 14.75-foot beam, the hull delivers the offshore capability and interior volume prized by extended-range cruisers. Power comes from a Yanmar 4JH3-TE diesel engine with 2,543 hours, supported by a NexGen 5.5kW generator at 385 hours. The boat cruises at 8 knots and carries approximately 63 gallons of fuel and 185 gallons of fresh water.

The interior follows a three-cabin, two-head arrangement with a commanding raised salon that floods the yacht with natural light. Recent comfort upgrades include new salon cushions and foam (2025), new cockpit cushions (2026), LED lighting throughout, and twin marine air-conditioning systems—a 18,000 BTU unit on port and a 16,000 BTU Dometic on starboard. The galley features a new three-burner Force 10 stove and new Insignia microwave. Both heads have been converted to freshwater electric toilets with sanitation hoses renewed in 2025 and 2026.

Power management is substantial: a 400-watt bifacial solar array plus two 125-watt soft panels charge four new AGM 105Ah house batteries through a Victron 3000VA inverter-charger added in 2024. Navigation and communication center on a Raymarine 17-inch Axiom multifunction display with radar and AIS, both recent additions. Sails include a 2019 Quantum mainsail and 2020 Quantum 130% genoa; the propeller, shaft seal, and cutlass bearing are new as of late 2025.

The yacht is equipped for serious cruising with a Rockna anchor and 175 feet of chain, Winslow six-person liferaft, EPIRB, davits, engine lift, and a 2022 Zodiac 330 dinghy with 15hp Mercury outboard. Bottom paint is current. An in-water survey was completed in March 2026 and standing rigging inspected in January 2026.
