The 2005 Lagoon 380 is a fiberglass catamaran designed by VPLP and built by Lagoon/Groupe Beneteau. At nearly 38 feet long with a beam of over 21 feet, this model delivers the spacious interior volume and stability that have made the 380 one of the most popular cruising catamarans in production. Power comes from twin Yammer 3YM30 diesel engines producing 30 horsepower each, paired with saildrives. A Northern Lights 3.3kW diesel generator, 400-watt solar array with Victron controller, and Magnum Energy inverter/charger support extended cruising.
The owner's version layout maximizes comfort for longer passages and liveaboard use. The starboard hull contains a private aft cabin with its own head and substantial storage, while the port hull houses two guest cabins and a second head. The full-beam salon and generous cockpit occupy a single level, creating an open social space flooded with natural light from large windows.
Systems and equipment reflect a well-maintained cruising platform: Raymarine electronics with chartplotter and AIS, VHF radio, 32,000 BTU reverse-cycle air conditioning, an installed watermaker, and a Rocna 44-pound anchor with electric windlass. The wide beam and twin-hull design provide excellent stability both underway and at anchor. A January 2024 survey documented that both engines started easily, ran smoothly, and performed properly at sea trial, with hulls, deck, bulkheads, and structural grid all found sound and free from delamination or moisture intrusion.
