The 2005 Tartan 3700 is a performance-oriented cruising sailboat built with fiberglass construction. Designed by Tim Jackett, this model combines the interior volume and sailing speed of larger yachts with a beam of 12 feet 8 inches and a shoal-draft keel drawing just 5 feet. Having spent its life on fresh water, the hull shows no corrosion. The boat features a single Yammer diesel engine with saildrive and a two-blade folding propeller.
The interior is organized around a forward master stateroom, a main salon with convertible settee, and an aft cabin, along with a head. Cherry wood joinery and a well-equipped galley support comfortable cruising. The galley includes a three-burner propane stove with oven, refrigerator, and microwave. A double stainless steel sink, air conditioning, and hot water heating round out the living spaces. The layout and shallow draft make the boat manageable for short-handed sailing.
Recent work has been substantial. The saildrive received an output shaft reseat and fresh oil; the engine's raw water filter, alternator, water pump belt, and all oil and fuel filters were replaced. The engine cooling system was pressure tested. Hull maintenance included buffing, waxing, and new bottom paint. The hot water heater and Bimini were both new in 2025.
Electronics include Raymarine speed, depth, wind, and radar instruments with autopilot. The rig carries main, jib, and spinnaker sails, with the jib replaced in 2018. A Lewmar windlass handles the plow anchor and 150 feet of line. An electric swim platform, full USCG safety equipment, fenders, and dock lines complete the setup. House and starter batteries were replaced in 2022.
