2005 Wauquiez 47 Pilot Saloon

The 2005 Wauquiez 47 Pilot Saloon is a fiberglass cruising sailboat designed by Berret and Racoupeau. The design prioritizes comfort and livability while achieving respectable performance through refined bow entries, a high stern, and moderate displacement. Power comes from a 110 hp Yanmar diesel engine. The boat sits on a 47-foot hull with a 15-foot beam.

Below deck are three cabins and two heads. The master stateroom occupies the aft section with a double berth, console seating, storage, and an ensuite bathroom with manual head and separate shower. The forward cabin contains two single berths along the sides. A third guest cabin to starboard holds a French bed and shares a port-side head. The galley runs along the port side with a three-burner gas cooktop, oven, double sink, seawater pump, and two refrigerators. A dinette with fold-down table and C-shaped sofa adjoins a chart area with its own seating.

Equipment is extensive. Navigation systems include dual Raymarine E120 chartplotters, Raymarine autopilot, Raymarine wind and multidata displays, Icom VHF radio, AIS, radar, and a Furuno weather receiver. Four Harken winches—one electric—manage sail handling. Sails include a Doyle main and jib from 2023, and a code zero from 2022. The boat carries a Max Power bow thruster with independent controls and dedicated battery banks. Webasto heating reaches all cabins. The 40-liter Quick boiler provides hot water. Power systems include an Onan generator, two banks of service batteries (4 × 210 Ah), a 110 Ah starter battery, and a 60 A charger. The electric windlass and other systems run on auxiliary Optima Red batteries. A lazy bag, lazy jack, bimini top, and sprayhood protect the sails and crew.

Recent work includes a 2024 propeller replacement, propeller shaft replacement, new engine mounts, boiler and Webasto overhauls, a new masthead transducer, and full engine service. In 2025, new bow thruster batteries, anchor chain, dinette cushions, and a new air-cooled refrigerator were fitted. Careening was completed in 2024 and 2025. The teak cockpit and side walkways remain bright. A manually folding swim platform, external shower, and shore power inlet round out the outfit.
