This 2006 Albin 28 Tournament Express is a single-diesel sportfisher built on a fiberglass hull with a 10-foot beam and designed for serious offshore work. The Volvo D6 turbocharged diesel delivers 310 horsepower, with reported fuel consumption around 10.5 gallons per hour at cruise rpm and a cruising speed of approximately 15 knots. The wide beam provides stability in open water, and the pilothouse offers substantial protection from weather while the cockpit delivers more working space than most boats under 30 feet.
Accommodations include a flush deck cabin with a convertible dinette that transforms into a queen-size bed measuring 6'6" by 5', plus a pilot berth. The cabin features teak and holly flooring, and the head with shower is located to starboard with the galley to port. The engine sits on the centerline amidships. A Vetus bow thruster aids maneuvering.
The boat was extensively modified for fishing: the three transom storage compartments were converted to live wells with a combined capacity of 79 gallons (18, 18, and 43 gallons). A mini-tower with polished stainless rod holders was installed atop the pilothouse, and stainless steel rod holders were added to the roof. The hull was refinished with linear polyurethane in 2010 to match its original Flag Blue. A full cockpit bimini with stainless steel masts, swimstep with pullout ladder, and transom cover complete the setup.
The boat includes updated Simrad electronics with current navigation charts, three bimini and cockpit lights, dripless shaft with bronze four-blade propeller, three bilge pumps plus a manual backup, and a saltwater wash-down system. The galley is equipped with a Force 10 hot water heater, microwave, and portable gas cooker. A cockpit shower with hot and cold fresh water was added in 2014, and the stereo was updated the same year.
