The 2006 Catalina 42 MkII is a classic cruising sailboat built on a solid fiberglass hull with structural grid reinforcement. At 42 feet with a 13.83-foot beam, she carries a moderate draft and fin keel suited to coastal waters. A 54-horsepower Yammer diesel engine with 1,040 hours powers the boat, paired with a three-blade Max-prop and new PSS shaft seal installed in 2021. The rig is straightforward with an aluminum mast, double spreaders, and a Dutchman flaking system that simplifies mainsail handling. The headsail features roller furling, and both sails—dacron mainsail and headsail from 2014—are easily deployed and stowed from the cockpit.
The interior reflects Catalina's design philosophy of bright, airy spaces with warm wood tones. Three cabins sleep multiple guests with individual privacy. The primary cabin forward includes an en-suite head with separate stall shower, a large hanging locker, and five-drawer dresser. Two guest cabins aft share a head to starboard. The saloon wraps around the port side with a convertible dinette berth and includes a navigation station with chart table and electrical panel. The galley to starboard is well-appointed with dual stainless steel sinks, three-burner propane stove and oven, refrigerator-freezer with stainless door, and Corian counters throughout.
The deck layout prioritizes comfort and functionality. Wide, flat decks with molded non-skid, substantial coamings, and easy footing support movement around the boat. A large 44-inch stainless steel steering wheel mounts on the pedestal with engine controls and navigation instruments positioned nearby. A dodger with window covers connects to a full bimini with side enclosures for weather protection. Equipment includes a Maxwell 800 electric windlass, Delta 44-pound anchor with 200 feet of chain and 100 feet of line, Fortress backup anchor, hot and cold stern shower, walk-through transom, and outboard motor bracket with lift crane. Lewmar winches—40s on the cabin top and 54s for primary sheets—work with an electric-powered main halyard winch and rope clutches leading to the cockpit.
Accommodations include two air conditioning units, 131 gallons of water across four tanks, 46 gallons of fuel, and 52 gallons of holding tank capacity. Navigation and helm systems feature a Raymarine C80 chartplotter with radar, ST60 depth, speed, and wind instruments, ICOM M422 VHF, and Raymarine autopilot. Interior highlights include ash hull paneling, varnished teak joinery, blue Ultra-leather saloon cushions, and insect screens for hatches. The boat comes with dock lines, fenders, spare parts, two propane tanks, life-sling retrieval system, and a Fairclough winter cover.
