The Southerly 115 Mk IV is a 37-foot bluewater cruising sailboat built on a fiberglass hull. Her defining feature is an innovative swing keel system that adjusts draft from 2'4" when retracted to 7'2" when deployed, allowing exploration of shallow anchorages without sacrificing the stability needed for offshore passage. Power comes from a 40 hp Yanmar diesel, and the boat carries a cutter rig designed for short-handed sailing.
Below deck, the interior is appointed with teak joinery and includes a deck saloon with panoramic windows offering full visibility. Two staterooms and a galley provide comfortable accommodation for extended cruising.
Recent work includes a new Genoa sail and bottom paint with fresh zincs. The swing keel and grounding plate were completely removed and refurbished in 2023. The mast base wire gland was replaced in July 2024, and the boat received 150 feet of new G4 anchor chain, a 40-foot anchor snubber bridle, and a serviced bow thruster. Electronics were upgraded in July 2024 with two Raymarine Axiom 9 multifunction displays, a Quantum 2 Doppler radar, NEMA networking, and a masthead wind transducer. Three new AGM house batteries were installed, and a custom teak French-style bi-fold door was fitted to the saloon.
