2008 Africat Marine 420

The Africat 420 is a fiberglass power catamaran built for durability and refined finishing. At 42 feet with a 22-foot beam, this 2008 model delivers substantial space and stability. Twin Volvo Penta diesel engines producing 740 horsepower power the yacht to a cruising speed of 18 knots with a maximum speed of 23 knots. The engines use pod drive transmission, which simplifies maneuvering in confined waters and tight anchorages compared to conventional shaft drive systems.

The interior accommodates two cabins and three heads across both hulls. The starboard hull features the owner's cabin with a queen berth aft and an en-suite with walk-in shower forward. The port hull holds a guest cabin aft with queen bunk and en-suite, plus a forward cabin offering substantial storage, walk-in shower, washer and dryer, and workshop space. The layout suits extended cruising for a couple or small family. A full-length flybridge provides an additional helm station and aft seating area.

Built-in equipment includes a 9 kVA Onan generator, water maker, and lithium battery bank with solar panels for extended autonomy. The yacht features tempered glass salon windows and sliding doors, stainless steel safety rails, a rubbing strake, and monolithic hull construction below the waterline. A hydraulic crane on the foredeck handles a Highfield RIB dinghy with outboard engine. The yacht is wired for 110V operation.
