2008 Back Cove 29

The Back Cove 29 is a 29-foot fiberglass cruiser built on Down East lobster boat design principles. Her traditional spoon bow and gently sloped transom combine classic styling with modern performance. Below deck, a deep-vee hull with prop recess and trim tabs delivers comfort and seaworthiness. Power comes from a Yanmar 6-cylinder diesel of 260 horsepower, paired with a bow thruster for easy handling. The boat cruises at 20 knots and tops out at 24. Deck features include a hard top, anchor roller with locker forward, molded bulwark, and a functional swim platform with ladder aft.

The interior centers on a spacious salon with 6 feet 3 inches of headroom. American cherry cabinetry, a teak and holly cabin sole, and varnished ash hull lining create a warm, finished environment. A deck hatch and three opening ports provide natural ventilation. The salon table, crafted from cherry with maple inlay, lowers between the settees to create additional sleeping space. A large L-shaped settee with underside storage and ice chest occupies the main cabin area, with berth cushions stored forward.

The galley sits forward and is fully equipped with an alcohol/electric cooktop, microwave oven, pressurized hot and cold water, stainless steel sink, and ample storage for supplies. The enclosed head and shower compartment sits aft to starboard, finished with a curved cherry bulkhead. The head features a fiberglass liner, fresh-water flushing, and a macerator pump for waste disposal. Counter and fixtures are solid surface material, with an extending sink faucet that doubles as a shower head.

The helm station offers excellent sight lines and full adjustability for both helmsman and mate seating. Engine gauges and space for navigation equipment are integrated into the custom helm panel. Deck surfaces feature diamond-shaped anti-slip patterns in contrasting color. Engine access has been prioritized for serviceability, with the Yanmar and all major systems easily reached in the engine compartment. Standard mechanical features include the bow thruster and a dripless shaft seal.
