This 31-foot wooden sloop was built in 2008 to a classic design by Frank Paine, originally drawn in 1934. The hull was constructed using traditional Northern White Cedar planking fastened with bronze screws to steam-bent white oak frames, with a laminated mahogany backbone. After initial construction, the project was completed with mahogany house sides and teak decks over epoxy-sheathed plywood, creating a striking cruising yacht built to exacting standards.
The boat is powered by a hybrid diesel-electric drive system featuring a 48-volt Thoosa electric motor and a 3.5 kW diesel generator. The electric motor alone will push her at up to 6 knots on battery power for roughly 20 miles, while the diesel hybrid mode extends range to about 100 miles. All spars are varnished Sitka Spruce, and the yacht comes with two sailing rigs: the original leg-of-mutton configuration with running backstays and a newer shorter-boom setup with a fixed backstay and Dutchman sail flaking system for easier single-handed sailing.
Below deck, the interior accommodates four and features a sit-down chart table with 6 feet 2 inches of headroom, a hanging locker, two-burner propane stove, on-demand hot water for the cockpit shower, and front-opening refrigerator. Navigation equipment includes an Icom VHF radio and Simrad chart plotter concealed behind a varnished teak cover. All electrical systems run on 24 volts. Bronze hardware throughout includes custom self-tailing sheet winches, a manually operated anchor chain windlass with 40-pound CQR anchor, and a custom bronze bow roller.
Launched in May 2008, the boat has been stored indoors. Hull and topside condition remain as they were at launch.
