This 2008 Hylas 46 is a fiberglass cruising sailboat built for serious offshore passage-making. At 46 feet with a 13.75-foot beam, the yacht carries a well-proportioned sail plan: a 49.9 square-meter mainsail, 68.0 square-meter genoa, and 21.5 square-meter staysail on a 64.5-foot mast. Standing rigging is stainless steel 1x19 wire with swaged terminals and rigging screws, inspected in 2024. The boat is equipped with a Seldon 12-foot spinnaker pool and eight Antal self-tailing winches distributed across primary, secondary, mainsheet, and halyard stations for efficient sail handling.
Power comes from a Yanmar 4JH4 TE 75 HP diesel engine with 3,391 hours, last serviced in May 2024. Fuel and water tanks hold 130 and 173 US gallons respectively. A Maxwell electric windlass with a 55-pound Rocna MKII anchor, divided chain locker, and 4-blade Max propeller complete the deck systems. The semi-skegged rudder provides directional stability.
Comprehensive electronics include dual Raymarine C120 chart plotters, a 4-kilowatt 24-inch Raymarine radome installed in 2022, wind and speed repeater displays, autopilot control with two Type 2 hydraulic drives and a spare computer, and Garmin VHF. Navigation systems are backed by a Starlink high-performance dish and Iridium Go Exec satellite communications, both new in 2024.
Onboard systems include a Fischer Panda 4000 hybrid generator, Catalina 300 MKII Spectra watermaker, new AGM battery bank, Fireboy automatic fire suppression, hot water heater, and a Frigoboat refrigerator and freezer with digital thermostat control. A new rigid bimini frame and canvas with enclosures protect the cockpit. An AB 8 UL inflatable tender with a 5 HP Honda outboard and Kato davits provide tender access. A wind generator and Fusion stereo system with six speakers complete the setup. New canvas, bimini, dodger, and connector panel were installed in 2024.
