The Polynesia 42 is a 42-foot trimaran built in 2008 using strip-plank construction with carbon fiber and epoxy, designed by Philippe Rivière. The narrow central hull creates substantial interior volume while the folding outriggers allow practical storage and maintenance. Power comes from a single 39-horsepower Nanni inboard diesel driving a new Gori three-blade feathering propeller, with 900 engine hours logged.
Below deck, the boat offers three cabins and one head. The yacht carries substantial freshwater and fuel capacity with two 120-liter tanks and two 100-liter tanks respectively. An inflatable tender with soft floor and 2.5-horsepower auxiliary motor completes the auxiliary equipment.
Recent work includes a comprehensive refit in 2020: the floats were removed and repainted, the electrical panel rebuilt, AIS electronics upgraded to Class B, the wind generator fully serviced, and all standing rigging replaced. A new main halyard in Dyneema, replacement of both alternators, and overhaul of the centerboard trunk in late 2023 address core systems. Solar panels and a wind generator provide power generation, supported by battery banks and 24-volt and 12-volt converters.
The boat carries navigation and communication equipment including Raymarine instruments, dual VHF radios, AIS transpondeer, NKE autopilot, and a Starlink antenna. Seven winches—including five Andersen 46 ST and one Andersen 12 ST—handle sail management. Sails include a three-reef main, jib, and code sail in Hydranet fabric.
