This 2011 Performance Catamarans 52 is a custom-built cruising catamaran designed by Enrico Contreas and Marco Veglia and constructed by Mattia, a boutique Italian boatyard. The 52-foot composite hull features optimized entry lines to reduce pitch and drag, with large carbon daggerboards for upwind and reaching performance. Vacuum-infusion construction with closed-cell foam cores provides both stiffness and weight reduction while resisting osmosis and delamination. The boat carries a Paguro carbon rig with rod rigging and membrane sails.
The interior is finished in light oak, departing from typical white fiberglass production cabinetry. Accommodations include three cabins and three heads. The boat is outfitted with a 220-volt electrical system and a Victron isolation transformer to support 110-volt usage, making it dual-voltage capable. Power systems include a Cummins Onan generator and solar panels. Fresh water comes from a 200-liter-per-hour Schenker watermaker. Appliances include a Bosch washing machine, Bosch dishwasher, and Vitrifigo refrigeration with icemaker. Two Webasto heaters serve the interior. Dedicated engine and mechanical rooms keep the living spaces quiet and provide ample service access.
The catamaran was completed in 2011 and fully finished in 2015 with the addition of the rig and sails. She was lightly sailed seasonally in the Mediterranean before crossing the Atlantic to San Diego. Recent upgrades include new sails, new carbon wheels, new helm and engine panels, new batteries, a new RIB dinghy, new solar panels and controller, and fresh water system components. A complete boatyard service was finished in June 2025. Two Yanmar diesel engines of 144 horsepower each provide cruising at 10 knots and a maximum speed of 25 knots.
