The Alerion Express 28 is a 28-foot fiberglass sailing yacht built in 2012, designed by Carl Schumacher. This well-known daysailer combines classic proportions with straightforward sailing characteristics, featuring a self-tacking jib with boom, a large comfortable cockpit, and all control lines led aft for single-handed operation.
The boat is equipped with a Yanmar diesel saildrive engine of 14 horsepower. Sail handling includes a Leisure Furl boom, an electric halyard winch mounted on the cabin top, and a new mainsail installed in 2022. The cabin interior is finished in varnished teak and provides modest overnight accommodation for weekend cruising.
Recent work includes installation of a new Yanmar saildrive in 2023, electronics upgrades with Garmin and Fusion stereo added in 2019, and a full ceramic coating applied in 2024. The boat has been kept in freshwater since 2019 and stored indoors during off-season months. A Triad trailer is included. An original boom and vang are also available.
