The 2012 Fountaine Pajot 40 is a fiberglass catamaran built for long-range cruising, combining efficiency with genuine living space. Twin Volvo diesel engines rated at 220 horsepower each deliver a cruising speed of 13.5 knots and a maximum speed of 21 knots. The hull design, created by naval architects Joubert & Nivelt, features sharp bow entries, a rockered bottom, and protective skegs that house the propeller shafts. The fiberglass construction uses resin infusion for strength and minimal weight, with full-length stringers and multiple bulkheads for rigidity.
The boat is laid out with three cabins and two heads. The master stateroom occupies the starboard hull with an athwartships berth, portlight, hanging locker, and ensuite head with separate shower. Two additional cabins share a head in the port hull. The main saloon flows into the galley on the starboard side, with contemporary finishes, solid surface counters, and a four-burner gas range and oven. Large side windows bring natural light throughout the interior spaces. A sliding glass door provides access from the aft deck.
Above deck, an expansive flybridge features a sunpad with room for guests and excellent sightlines for navigation. The aft deck includes a built-in transom lounge and wide side decks protected by stainless steel handrails. Each hull has broad swim platforms. Substantial storage is integrated throughout the hulls, including dedicated fuel and water tanks for each side and sound-proofed engine enclosures with good access for maintenance.
This boat has been recently refitted with new diesel engines, a new generator, new upholstery, rebuilt aluminum frame flybridge top, updated galley appliances, and new Garmin electronics for navigation and display.
