2012 NEEL 45

The NEEL 45 is a 2012 composite catamaran designed around the distinctive NEEL concept: a hybrid platform that combines the sailing efficiency of a monohull with catamaran stability and comfort. Powered by a single 55 hp Volvo diesel engine, it cruises at 8 knots and reaches 11 knots at speed. The hull features a sail drive and folding three-blade propeller, with an electric bow thruster for manoeuvring.

The yacht accommodates three cabins and two heads across its nacelle design, with 400 litres of water capacity and 300 litres of fuel storage. The cabin layout includes hot water circulation, holding tank, interior curtains, and refrigerator with freezer. On deck, an inox bimini and canvas cover a cockpit with PVC table, cold and hot shower, and cushioned seating. A lazy bag and electric winches support the sail plan of mainsail, jib, staysail, and code zero—the latter two renewed in 2019 and 2024 respectively. The rigging was serviced in 2020.

Power and systems have been substantially upgraded since 2021. The boat carries 900 Ah of battery capacity added in 2023, with a 2020 engine battery of 100 Ah, a 2000 W inverter, Victron battery manager, and 500 W solar panels. Navigation electronics include Furuno and Garmin equipment, AIS transceiver, and autopilot. A forward-facing camera and electric anchor winch complete the setup. Water systems include a 60 l/h desalinator and hot water heater.

A three-person tender with 9.9 hp Suzuki outboard is included. The yacht carries a 30 kg Spade anchor with 80 metres of chain, emergency equipment for 12 persons current to 2024, and is set up for extended cruising with 220 V shore power connection and full offshore rigging.
