2014 Ocean Explorer Catamarans 60

This 60-foot catamaran was designed by renowned naval architect Germán Frers and built in Finland by Ocean Quality Systems, combining elegant design with performance-cruising capability. The composite hull features vacuum-infused epoxy sandwich construction reinforced with carbon, paired with curved carbon daggerboards offering draft variation from 0.85m to 2.05m, and retractable carbon rudders. Twin Steyr 110hp diesel engines with Brunton Varifold propellers provide propulsion, supported by a hydraulic retractable bowthruster.

The interior is laid out with four cabins and four heads finished in Canadian ash joinery. The design maximizes natural light throughout, with extensive glazing that provides clear sightlines from the saloon to both bows. The galley is generously proportioned, and a dedicated nav station sits in an alcove beside the mast with forward visibility. Teak decking extends inside, and a watertight door provides access to the forward cockpit.

Power and systems are comprehensively equipped. A 15kw Fisher Panda generator, Mastervolt lithium batteries with 5kw inverter, and solar panels support a full range of modern conveniences: reverse-osmosis watermaker, air-conditioning with 42,000BTU output, dishwasher, washer-dryer, multiple refrigeration units, and electric heads. Navigation includes B&G instruments with radar and AIS, plus satellite communications via KVH trackphone.

The rigging features a carbon Lorima mast and boom with carbon standing rigging and hydraulic furling systems. The sail wardrobe includes a Code 0, gennaker, and parasail from North Sails. Recent refits have included fresh hull and rig paint, new carbon standing rigging, new generator, new hydraulic bowthruster, and new sails.
