The 2014 Ranger Tugs R-27 is a 27-foot fiberglass trawler built for comfortable cruising and easy handling. The boat's defining feature is its expansive aft deck—nearly 50 square feet—which is 25 percent larger than the previous R-25 model. This generous cockpit provides straightforward access to the single 200 hp Volvo Penta diesel engine while effectively isolating engine noise from the cabin, and creates room for both above and below deck storage.
The cabin layout prioritizes functionality and sleeping capacity. The midship office features a desk and chair and converts into a two-berth sleeping area. Forward, the spacious V-berth sleeps two adults and exceeds 6 feet 5 inches in length. The dinette table sits on a hydraulic piston, allowing quick conversion between dining, sleeping, or lounging configurations. The galley is outfitted with a sink, refrigerator, inverter, microwave, and combination propane stove and oven. The marine head includes an electric flush toilet, glass vessel sink, and shower.
Standard equipment on the R-27 includes bow and stern thrusters for precise docking maneuverability. The 8.5-foot beam makes the boat easily trailerable. Solar panels are available as an optional upgrade.
