The 2016 Aquila 48 is a fiberglass power catamaran built for extended cruising and live-aboard comfort. Twin Volvo diesel engines producing 660 horsepower provide the propulsion, with port and starboard engines logged at 2,831 and 2,851 hours respectively. The beam of 23.5 feet provides exceptional stability and interior volume across the 48-foot length.
The salon and galley feature 360-degree sightlines that create an open, spacious feel throughout the main deck. Below are four private en suite cabins with generous headroom and storage, each with full heads. The aft cabins include convertible beds configured as either a full queen or two separate singles. A 16-kilowatt generator supports the ship's systems, which include a watermaker, chilled-water air conditioning, and freshwater flush throughout.
The flybridge is generously proportioned with a centralized helm station offering excellent visibility, a wet bar, and an electric grill. Two sun pads occupy the forward sections, with port and starboard bow access flanking a large sun pad area. The covered forward cockpit provides protected seating. A dinghy platform with electric davit system simplifies tender operations, and internal stairs provide convenient access to the flybridge.
Navigation and monitoring systems include a Raymarine Evolution autopilot with P70 control, an I70 multifunction display, E125 chart plotter on the flybridge, 55US VHF radio with remote microphone, and an aft-mounted CAM200 camera. The generator was rebuilt 18 months ago. The boat experienced Hurricane Irma in 2017 with minimal exterior impact and remained fully operational shortly thereafter.
