The 2016 Cobia 296 is a 30-foot center console powered by twin Yamaha F300 engines with 650 hours of service time. The boat delivers serious capability for offshore fishing and cruising, with a solid 10-foot beam and fiberglass construction built for open water performance.
A full service was completed in June 2025, including bottom paint, new Simrad GPS units, autopilot pump replacement, and trim tab control installation. Navigation and electronics are comprehensive: dual 12-inch Simrad touchscreen GPS/chartplotters, Simrad VHF radio, Yamaha Digital Command Link gauges, and an Optimus steering system with the newly installed autopilot pump for precise boat control. The Lenco auto trim tabs optimize handling and performance across sea states.
The boat carries serious fishing credentials. Rupp outriggers enhance both angling capability and sun protection, and two transom livewells keep bait and catch fresh. Twin transom livewells and fresh and raw water washdown systems support practical deck work. An electric bow table provides versatility, and the recessed Lewmar anchor windlass with oversized stainless steel plow anchor handles holding duties. A new three-sided enclosure with side wings protects occupants from weather, and custom helm covers complete the weather protection package.
All four batteries—two starting and two house—were installed new in November 2024. The console includes an electric head for convenience, and a recently upgraded JL Audio sound system provides entertainment. Transom space, helm seating with custom covers, and open deck layout characterize the working design typical of this class.
