This 2016 Helmsman Trawlers 38 Pilothouse is a single-engine diesel trawler built for long-range cruising and extended living aboard. Powered by a Cummins QSB6.7HOI 425-hp engine with approximately 1,350 hours, the boat cruises economically at 8–9 knots and is equipped with Bennett trim tabs and side-power bow and stern thrusters for precise handling.
The yacht has received significant systems upgrades over the past two years. A Northern Lights 6-kw generator installed in 2023 carries roughly 250 hours of use. Climate control includes three CTM reverse-cycle heat/air-conditioning units and a Webasto Pro90ST hydronic heating system, both new in 2023. The house bank comprises five AGM batteries installed in 2024, supported by a new Magnum inverter/charger from 2023. Cummins and Northern Lights generators have been newly serviced.
The pilothouse has a single pilotberth conversion option and integrates Garmin navigation electronics including a new 2025 chartplotter and VHF radio. The flybridge also received new 2025 Garmin VHF and chartplotter units. Additional electronics include a Fusion stereo system and Starlink Mini connectivity. The galley features a Force 10 propane range, granite countertops, and a U-Line ice maker.
Exterior appointments include a Kingston Gray fiberglass hull with non-skid decking, light gray Sunbrella bimini and flybridge covers, and a U-shaped flybridge settee with starboard helm station. Dual cockpit side entry doors and a transom door provide access, with swim platform safety handrails fitted. A Nick Jackson 500-pound davit supports a 10-foot Highfield tender with 15-hp Mercury outboard, both new in 2022.
