The 2016 Knysna 500SE is a 50-foot sailing catamaran built in South Africa by the boutique Knysna Yacht Company, known for hand-finished multihulls designed for offshore voyaging. Twin Yammer 57 hp diesels with SD60 saildrives power the yacht, supported by 600 liters each of fuel and water capacity, a 100-liter-per-hour watermaker, and comprehensive electrical systems including Mastervolt lithium batteries (1,080 Ah), a 7 kW Kohler generator, and 800 watts of solar. Navigation equipment comprises a full B&G suite with 16-inch plotter, radar, autopilot, wind and depth instruments, AIS, and VHF. Sail handling includes a fully battened mainsail, roller-furling genoa, and electric winches.
The interior features three cabins and three heads arranged with a full-beam owner's suite to port including a desk and large en-suite, and two guest cabins to starboard, each with private en-suites. The saloon seats six to eight around a raised dinette with an integrated bar and custom wine rack, alongside a 40-inch television. The galley is equipped with a stainless steel oven/grill, 150-liter combined fridge/freezer, separate 90-liter freezer, and substantial bench and storage space. Maple joinery, dimmable lighting, air-conditioning, and large windows throughout the interior define the living spaces.
Topside, a teak cockpit provides dining for eight with integrated seating, a refrigerated locker, and a wet bar. A Force 10 BBQ is integrated into the entertaining area. The composite coachroof features twin sliding glass hatches. A separate helm hardtop with roll-up clears shelters the fully equipped helm station. A Fusion audio system with cockpit speakers is installed. The yacht comes with a 3.1-meter Aurora tender and has been fully polished.
