The 2017 Amel 55 is a composite-hulled ketch designed for extended cruising. At nearly 55 feet with a beam of just over 16 feet, she combines a robust seagoing platform with comfortable accommodation. The hull is powered by a Volvo Penta D3-110 diesel engine producing 110 horsepower, fitted with a three-bladed folding propeller and an angle-change gearbox. Engine hours stand at 1,182 as of February 2025. An 11 kW Onan diesel generator supports the extensive electrical systems and onboard equipment.
The yacht features three cabins with private bathrooms—two guest cabins and a skipper's cabin—plus three heads across the vessel. Interior spaces are finished with natural teak throughout. The saloon includes a convertible dining table with electric drive, two armchairs, a minibar, and entertainment systems with television. Climate control is provided by reverse-cycle air conditioning in each cabin and the saloon, supplemented by Webasto heating. A watermaker produces 240 liters per hour, while a 150-liter fridge and matching freezer support provisioning for long passages.
The sailing rig is a modern ketch arrangement with electric furling mainsail and mizzen, both Hydranet tri-radial cut. A genoa and storm jib are fitted with Reckman electric furlers. An asymmetric spinnaker system with sock and dedicated furler completes the canvas inventory. All running rigging was replaced in 2024. Deck equipment includes an electric windlass, second capstan, hydraulic retractable gangway, electric davits, and a retractable bow thruster. Solar panels and a comprehensive suite of navigation electronics—dual Furuno autopilots, radar, AIS, dual chartplotters, and satellite communications via Starlink—support autonomous operation.
Recent maintenance includes engine and generator service in February 2025, antifouling paint and anode replacement in October 2024, and battery replacements in 2022 and early 2025. The yacht is supplied with a Zodiac life raft, 3D Ultralight tender with aluminum bottom and 6 hp Yamaha outboard, and a complete set of protective covers.
