The Helia 44 Evolution is a 2017 Fountaine Pajot sailing catamaran built from fiberglass. At 43.5 feet long with a 24.25-foot beam, the hull features a 4.5-foot draft and is powered by twin 80-horsepower Volvo Penta diesel engines. The rig carries an Incidence square-top mainsail and 120% genoa, both with a new furler and lazy jacks as of 2023. A Cummins Onan 9.5-kilowatt generator provides auxiliary power, supported by four sealed deep-cycle batteries installed in 2023. The yacht rides on folding brass propellers and is equipped with a 61-liter-per-hour watermaker for extended cruising.
The interior layout offers four cabins and four ensuite heads with saltwater and electric flush systems. Air conditioning is integrated throughout with six individual Cruisair units. The galley includes dual Isotherm refrigeration, a new 230-volt Oster convection oven with air fryer, a three-burner propane stove, and standard small appliances. Accommodations feature a 27-inch LCD television and integrated 12V/23V electrical systems with 110V and 230V converters.
Navigation and communication systems include a Raymarine Axiom 12-inch multifunction plotter with autopilot, radar, VHF radio with AIS and repeater, and a McMurdo EPIRB with AIS. Entertainment is provided by a Fusion stereo with Bluetooth and interior/exterior speakers. A Starlink global WiFi system was added in 2023. The yacht carries a 12-person liferaft with life jackets and snorkel equipment for eight.
The boat has benefited from regular maintenance and upgrades: new antifoil bottom paint and zinc anodes in 2023, new main halyard and windlass remote controller, a new fresh water pump and heat exchanger, and recent Awlgrip exterior paint in turquoise. A Highfield 11-foot dinghy with a 2022 Yamaha 15-horsepower four-stroke outboard, dual inflatable paddleboards, and a kayak complete the equipment package. An aft cockpit enclosure and canvas-lined plastic curtains provide weather protection.
