The Pogo 12.50 is a 40-foot performance cruising yacht built in France with a reputation for blending speed with seaworthy cruising capability. This 2017 model is powered by a Volvo Penta D2-40F diesel engine of 40 horsepower, paired with a saildrive and folding three-blade propeller. The hull is constructed from rigid vinyl ester, and the design features a lifting keel of 1.20 to 3 metres, tiller steering, and twin rudders. The wide beam of nearly 15 feet contributes substantially to stability and interior volume, creating surprisingly generous accommodation for a yacht of this size.
The interior layout comprises two main cabins plus a technical cabin with bathroom, with an additional forward cabin that can be configured as either a bathroom or storage space. The boat is equipped with hot and cold pressurised water systems fed by two 200-litre freshwater tanks, a manual WC, a bathroom with showerhead and deck shower, and an Eberspacher heating system with three outlets. A 220-volt electrical system serves five sockets throughout the boat, supported by a 200Ah AGM service battery and a Cristec 40-amp charger. Additional power generation comes from a solar panel and a Watt&Sea 600-watt hydro generator. The galley includes a two-burner gas stove with oven, an Isotherm refrigeration unit, and a double sink with both pressurised fresh water and manual saltwater access.
The navigation suite is comprehensive and modern, featuring a Furuno 1815 radar, Furuno GP-39 GPS, NKE autopilot with multiple displays, wind instruments, an electromagnetic speed sensor, and depth sounder. An Iridium Motorola satellite phone and weather infobox are installed. The rigging includes a carbon mast with a full-batten mainsail and multiple sails: a 44-square-metre furling staysail, a 26-square-metre reefable staysail, a 60-square-metre CODE 0, a 104-square-metre gennaker, and a medium spinnaker. Deck equipment includes a Lewmar windlass, anchor with chain and line, mooring gear, and fenders for docking.
The engine shows 450 hours of operation. A new Katadyn 40 desalinator is included for installation. A 12,000 BTU air and water conditioning system is present but requires verification of working condition. Life jackets and a life raft are aboard but require revision. A 2.5-horsepower outboard motor with brackets and a second installation bracket is included as backup propulsion. This yacht is well-equipped for extended cruising and offers the performance characteristics typical of the Pogo design.
