The 2017 Ranger Tugs R-29 CB is a 29-foot fiberglass trawler built around a command bridge layout. Powered by a single 300 hp Volvo D4 diesel engine mounted outside the cabin, it cruises at 14 knots and reaches 18 knots at speed. The engine placement keeps cabin noise low, and paired with bow and stern thrusters, it handles docking with ease.
The command bridge sits above the aft cockpit, accessed by teak steps, and seats four with full electronic controls including VHF, engine and thruster management, spotlight remote, and optional Garmin autopilot and navigation. The bridge includes grab rails, 12-volt power, cupholders, and weatherproof speakers. Below, the cabin features a curved front window and overhead glass atrium for visibility from the helm and salon. The galley and head are compactly arranged, with the forward cabin offering an island berth and en-suite head.
The cockpit uses an ingenious reversible seat arrangement with port and starboard jump seats and teak table, while an opening bulkhead with reversible seat extends usable seating and blurs the line between inside and out. The boat accommodates up to six adults across three separate sleeping areas.
This example carries the Northwest Package—diesel heat, inverter system, and downrigger mounts—suited to Pacific Northwest cruising. It includes a tender on Weaver davits with an electric outboard. Three separate steering and engine control stations provide practical operation from the main helm, bridge, or flybridge-style position.
