The 2018 Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 440 is a 42-foot fiberglass cruising yacht built to an award-winning design. The model won European Yacht of the Year 2018 in the Family Cruiser category and is recognized for its balanced combination of performance and comfort, stable hull with twin rudders, and intelligent interior layout that maximizes natural light and usable space.
The yacht accommodates three cabins and two heads across a well-planned layout. Below deck, the saloon features a bright, spacious interior with large windows and good headroom. The galley is G-shaped with generous workspace and storage, while a dedicated chart table with seating is positioned to port. Forward is a large double cabin; two spacious double cabins occupy the aft section. Both heads include showers—the forward head has a manual seawater pump, the aft features electric freshwater flush. On deck, the cockpit is large and social with twin helm stations, folding teak table, and backrests that convert to sunbeds. The extended bowsprit includes a fold-down ladder for bow access, and a pivoting transom opens to create a bathing platform.
The rig was substantially upgraded in 2021 with a new mast and reinforced boom. The current sail wardrobe includes custom-made Gran Seil sails in Contender CDX cloth with Spectra reinforcement—headsail 46 m², mainsail 44 m²—plus a Code 1 on FX furler. An original Jeanneau mainsail is also included. Deck systems include electric genoa and coachroof winches, adjustable genoa tracks operated from the cockpit, and Dyneema halyards. The yacht is powered by a Yanmar 57 hp Common Rail diesel with approximately 1,300 hours and a 3-blade Flexofold propeller. Three thrusters provide excellent maneuverability: one bow thruster and two stern thrusters with controls from the helm.
Electronics include dual 9-inch Raymarine Axiom chartplotters with updated Navionics Gold charts, Raymarine autopilot and VHF, AIS transceiver, 18-inch Quantum radar, and comprehensive multi-instrument displays. Power is supplied by a 660 Ah LiFePO₄ house battery bank with solar panel, supported by dedicated start, thruster, and bow thruster batteries. Additional features include Webasto diesel heating, a permanently installed Munters M50 dehumidifier, bow and stern thrusters, comprehensive safety equipment, and a custom winter cover.
