2018 Lagoon 50

The 2018 Lagoon 50 is a 48.5-foot fiberglass catamaran built for comfortable cruising and modern performance. Two Yanmar diesel engines of 160 horsepower each provide propulsion at a cruising speed of 6.5 knots. The design balances the proven qualities of the model line with contemporary rigging and hull architecture influenced by competitive sailing principles, including an aft-positioned mast step that reduces pitch and a self-tacking jib to simplify handling.

The accommodation plan offers flexibility with a choice of three to six cabins across five heads, allowing owners to configure the interior to their needs. Forward and aft cabins feature island berths and substantial storage throughout. The main saloon spans two levels with a galley that opens to the cockpit and a raised lounge area for panoramic visibility; the central windscreen retracts to improve ventilation and connection between interior and exterior spaces. Large hull portholes and panoramic glazing in aft cabins flood the living areas with natural light.

On deck, the flybridge includes a helm station and a modular recreation zone with integrated cushion storage. A large open cockpit faces aft with a modular dining area and removable bench seating, while a forward cockpit on the foredeck serves dual purpose as seating or lounging. Generous storage compartments occupy the space beneath cockpit and flybridge seating. The broad beam of 26.6 feet creates capacious hull volumes with attention to fresh water, black water, and optional grey water tank placement that preserves usable interior space.

The rigging package emphasizes both performance and ease of operation, with a large forward triangle, high-aspect-ratio mainsail, and shorter boom designed for optimized airflow and simplified maneuvers underway.
