2018 MJM 35z

The 2018 MJM 35z is a 37-foot Down East cruiser built with wet, pre-preg, post-cure epoxy composite construction for a lighter and stronger hull. Powered by twin Mercury Verado 350s, the boat achieves a top speed of 50 mph while cruising efficiently at 35 mph on just 1.2 gallons per hour. The design—a collaboration between designer Doug Zurn and Boston BoatWorks—features a modified deep-V hull with a 3.5-to-1 waterline length-to-beam ratio and 19.5 degrees of deadrise, creating a platform that gains stability at speed through lifting strakes and chine flats that redirect wave energy. The boat carries an ISO Certified B "Offshore" rating for seaworthiness.

Access is straightforward, with floating-dock-height side doors leading directly into the cockpit. The bridgedeck is one continuous level from the outboard motors forward to the cabin companionway, paired with Mercury joystick control for single-handed operation. The cockpit features a rear bench seat on a lifting pod that opens to a lazarette, a teak double-leaf table expanding to 24 by 36 inches, and a bar with fridge on the port side. Two convertible settees on the bridgedeck serve as full-length berths at night and can be enclosed with privacy curtains. Forward are twin Stidd Admiral helm seats on swivel bases, offering exceptional all-around visibility with minimal bow rise.

Below deck, the cabin maintains classic Herreshoff styling with cherry trim, off-white panels, and a teak-and-holly sole. The forward V-berth is an Ultraleather lounge with filler, offering full standing headroom and sufficient length for an adult to lie down fully. The galley to port has a long Corian counter, deep sink, drawers, fridge, single ceramic cooktop, and microwave. The head to starboard includes standing headroom and a port window.

Equipment includes a Seakeeper 3 gyro stabilizer, Side Power bow thruster, Zipwake interceptor trim tabs, full Raymarine electronics with 165 plotter, radar, autopilot, and depth display, Mercury Vessel View engine display, MarineAir air conditioning, electric windlass with helm control, Fusion stereo with indoor and outdoor speakers, and comprehensive electrical systems with dual house batteries, engine start batteries, and generator start battery.
