2019 Catalina 425

The 2019 Catalina 425 is a 42-foot fiberglass sloop built to Catalina's established standards for cruising sailboats. Twin helm stations with performance pedestals and pre-stretched cables sit in a functional, protected cockpit. Main and jib sheets lead to the helm for efficient sailing short-handed, and a self-tacking jib with traveler is standard. The hull features six large recessed fixed ports that provide natural light and visibility below.

Below deck, the layout centers on a forward owner's cabin with a large centerline berth fitted with an elevating adjustable mattress. Two aft cabins provide additional sleeping space; the port cabin can be converted to storage with a gull-wing cockpit hatch. A central mechanical space offers straightforward access to the single Yanmar diesel engine, generator, water heater, and air conditioning units for simplified maintenance.

The design incorporates several proprietary Catalina features intended for reliability and safety: a watertight StrikeZone collision bulkhead forward, a DeepDefense rudder system for failsafe steering, and a T-Beam MastStep structure combining the benefits of deck-stepped and keel-stepped masts. The SecureSocket chainplate and mast support system resolves loads while maintaining watertight integrity. The hull uses knitted-fabric reinforcement for added strength without weight penalty, and the lead keel is designed to absorb impact. Construction follows ABYC and IMCI standards for Category A — Unlimited Offshore rating.
