2019 Custom 531' Ice Class Sailing Tall Cruise Ship

This 531-foot steel sailing ship, built by Brodosplit in Croatia in 2019, is the largest sailing vessel ever launched. Her design draws from the classic five-mast barque France II, a French cargo windjammer from 1911. She carries DNV-GL certification with ice-class notation, enabling worldwide cruising including Arctic and Antarctic waters. The yacht achieves a speed of 17 knots under power and 16 to 20 knots under sail, with a range of 5,800 nautical miles under power alone. Four diesel engines—two Caterpillar 3516s and two 3512s—drive two electric motors totaling 7,800 kilowatts. Her 6,347 square meters of sail are controlled by hydraulic roller furling and electro-hydraulic winches, with all rigging in stainless steel.

The accommodation comprises 150 guest cabins across five categories—suites, deluxe balcony staterooms, and ocean view cabins—arranged across five decks with no interior cabins. Suites span 570 square feet and sleep up to four, with separate living areas, walk-in wardrobes, and dual bathrooms. Balcony staterooms measure 237 square feet and offer third-berth sofa beds. Ocean view cabins are 129 square feet with twin or double beds and porthole windows. All cabins include marble bathrooms, television, Wi-Fi, telephone, and mini-bars. Crew quarters total 71 cabins accommodating 165 staff. Maximum passenger capacity is 324.

Public spaces span all decks and include a three-deck dining hall, spa with sauna and steam facilities, gymnasium, three pools (one designated for diving), library, lecture theater, boutique, and five bars and lounges. The Marina Deck features a hydraulic platform that lowers into the water with teak decking, providing access to kayaks, stand-up paddleboards, snorkel gear, and dinghies. Onboard systems include redundant engine rooms, duplicate fresh-water and fuel systems, and a secondary command bridge. The yacht meets U.S. Coast Guard and Public Health Service requirements, and holds the highest classification for minimal noise and vibration.
