The 2019 Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 490 is a 49-foot cruising sailyacht built in France and designed by Philippe Briand and Jean-Marc Piaton. The boat is distinguished by its unobstructed deck layout—the sidedecks slope down to the cockpit floor without coamings to step over, allowing clear movement across the deck. A shoal draft of 5'4" suits shallow-water cruising, and the rig features in-mast furling with an ICW-friendly configuration. The boat is powered by a single 80-horsepower Yammer diesel engine and cruises at 8 knots.
The interior comprises three cabins with two queen staterooms and a workshop space, plus two heads with fresh water systems. The cabin sole and furnishings are finished in teak. Twin helm stations sit forward of a cockpit fitted with retractable port and starboard convertible sunbeds.
Equipped for extended cruising, the boat carries a 7,500-watt Cummins generator, a retractable bow thruster, and a Raymarine Ocean electronics package. Solar power consists of 1,000 watts of panels mounted on an arch with integrated davits, managed by Victron charge controllers. A full custom enclosure with built-in screens covers the aft deck, and a Siren Marine monitoring system provides local and remote boat management.
