The Amel 60 is a French-built bluewater cruiser designed and constructed for extended ocean voyaging. Built in 2020 at the La Rochelle shipyard, the yacht features a rigid, torsion-free fiberglass hull with vinylester resins and laminated bulkheads. The design emphasizes safety and reliability, with a deep, well-protected cockpit topped by a fixed doghouse over the helm station. A single 175-horsepower Volvo Penta diesel engine powers the yacht.
Below decks, the interior accommodates up to six people across three cabins: a generous owner's cabin spanning the full beam aft, plus two forward guest cabins. Three separate heads serve the living spaces. The interior features American walnut joinery and benefits from abundant natural light through numerous hull and coachhouse windows, portholes, and twelve deck hatches throughout.
This particular example has been extensively equipped for circumnavigation by its experienced owners. A carbon-fibre furling mast, retractable bow thruster, and stern thruster are paired with a lithium battery bank and a 19.5-kVA diesel generator. The watermaker produces 240 liters per hour, and the yacht includes air conditioning and diesel heating. A North Sails inventory and B&G navigation suite with SSB and satellite telephone complete the outfit for long-distance cruising.
The yacht carries owner-specified modifications and an optimized interior layout developed over the owners' prior Amel experience. Electric winches, a cutter stay for self-tacking jib, and numerous other comfort and performance upgrades reflect careful attention to extended voyaging needs.
