2020 Balance 526

The 2020 Balance 526 is a 52-foot performance catamaran built for bluewater cruising with the refinement and speed that have made the model iconic among serious offshore sailors. Designed by Anton du Toit and Phil Berman, and constructed by Nexus Yachts in South Africa, she features epoxy composite hull construction reinforced with carbon, twin Yanmar 4JH57 diesel engines, and performance keels rather than daggerboards—a rare specification that simplifies handling and reduces maintenance for short-handed sailing. With approximately 360 engine hours since launch, the boat demonstrates her light use and careful ownership.

Below deck, the three-cabin owner's version offers comfortable accommodation defined by handcrafted solid wood cabinetry throughout. The master suite includes an expansive shower; the galley is equipped with a dishwasher, oven, microwave, and separate refrigeration and freezer drawers. Two electric heads, air conditioning, hot water, and a washer provide the amenities expected for extended cruising. A flat-screen television and Wi-Fi system complete the living spaces.

On deck, a full Ullman sail inventory includes a fully battened mainsail, genoa, asymmetric spinnaker, and gennaker, paired with a single-spreader Sparcraft aluminum mast and Harken winch package with electric controls. The Raymarine electronics suite covers navigation, radar, AIS, and autopilot; comprehensive Victron power management includes a 5kW generator, inverter/charger, and 440Ah house battery bank. A Northern Lights generator provides additional electrical security.

Deck features include a teak cockpit, flexi-teak flooring, carbon grab handles, electric windlass, cockpit shower, davits, and a tender with 20HP outboard. Safety gear, liferaft, and comprehensive spares kits are aboard.
