The 2020 Fountaine Pajot Astrea 42 is a fiberglass catamaran built for comfortable cruising in warm waters. At 41 feet in length with a 24-foot beam, she offers the stability and spaciousness characteristic of the platform. Twin Volvo Penta D2-50F diesel engines deliver 102 horsepower each, with a cruising speed of 7 knots. An 11.5-kilowatt Onan generator supports onboard systems, and the boat includes an AB 10 dinghy with a 15-horsepower Yamaha four-stroke outboard.
The layout comprises three cabins, each with its own en-suite head. The owner's suite occupies the starboard hull in an open-plan configuration. The main saloon features expansive windows and includes a sofa with a convertible drop-down table. Air conditioning serves all cabins and the saloon when connected to shore power or the generator. Interior systems include electric Sanimarin toilets with macerators, a 12-volt refrigerator, and freezer.
Navigation and electronics include a Garmin GPSMap 8410 chartplotter installed in November 2024, paired with a full Garmin suite encompassing AIS, radar, and autopilot. Recent canvas work includes a new Doyle Coastal Plus mainsail with three reefs and UV stitch protection, new stackpack, and new bimini top, all completed in early 2025. Comfort upgrades added in late 2024 and 2025 include new front netting, rear mesh sunshade, and bow cushions. A fiberglass bowsprit and dive tank storage under the helm round out the equipment list.
