The 2019 Fountaine Pajot Astrea 42 is a fiberglass catamaran built for offshore cruising, measuring 41 feet in length with a 24-foot beam. Twin 80-horsepower Volvo diesel engines deliver a cruising speed of 7 knots and a maximum speed of 8.5 knots. The Owner's Version features three cabins and two heads, configured for extended passagemaking and comfort.
The yacht has been extensively upgraded with offshore capability at its core. The electrical system centers on 600Ah Juice lithium batteries paired with 2000W of solar panels managed through Victron Energy MPPT controllers. Navigation and communications include dual autopilots, Starlink Mini connectivity, PredictWind integration, and Iridium GO for bluewater reliability. A new electric windlass anchoring system and comprehensive stainless steel grab rails support safe handling in all conditions.
The sailing package is complete with mainsail, genoa, screecher, symmetrical spinnaker, and storm jib, backed by upgraded Dyneema running rigging and enhanced mast hardware. Onboard, a hard bimini with Strataglass enclosure, dual electric Lewmar winches, and iPad navigation integration enhance both safety and usability. Diesel heating, premium audio systems, upgraded saloon furnishings, and extensive storage support comfortable long-term cruising.
Recent service includes a new liferaft and current EWOF certification. The yacht has completed multiple offshore passages to Fiji, proving its capability as a bluewater cruiser.
