The 2021 Fountaine Pajot Astrea 42 is a fiberglass catamaran built in the Oceanic version with generous beam and modern cruising capability. Powered by twin 100-horsepower Volvo diesel engines, the hull is designed for comfortable passage-making and stable anchoring in various conditions.
The layout offers three cabins and three heads plus a central shower, providing comfortable accommodation for extended cruising. The interior features 12-volt and waterproof exterior outlets, pressurized seawater system, and courtesy LED lighting throughout. Heating and cooling include a 9-kilowatt 220-volt genset and air conditioning with 56,000 BTU capacity. The galley is equipped with a gas oven, dishwasher for six place settings, and a 90-liter cold storage unit. An electric head with large bowl serves the main facilities.
Deck equipment reflects a well-appointed cruising platform. The mainsail is a full-batten CST unit with lazy jack and lazy bag, controlled by an electric winch. A 1,000-watt electrical windlass handles anchoring with 105 meters of chain and a 20-kilogram anchor, plus chain counter. Navigation and electronics include a Garmin 7410 chartplotter with autopilot, VHF, and AIS, plus a second VHF and AIS unit at the helm, remote autopilot control, and mast-head VHF antenna. A Fusion audio system with Bluetooth serves the four-speaker entertainment setup.
Power management includes additional AGM batteries with 150-amp capacity, a 2,000-watt inverter-charger, and four 90–100-watt solar panels. Exterior amenities include a bimini over the helm, protective strips on both transoms, outdoor cushions, deck shower with hot water, and a gas plancha. A 3.3-meter Surmarin dinghy with 20-horsepower engine, mooring kit, and six fenders complete the inventory.
