2022 Custom Dana Hunter Cape Island 28

This 28-foot Cape Island design trawler combines the classic stability and seaworthiness of the traditional Nova Scotia fishing hull with a complete modern rebuild. The solid fiberglass hull was stripped to bare structure in 2022 and reconstructed with new framing, floors, decks, cabin structure, running gear, and electrical systems. All exterior surfaces are sheathed in fiberglass and sealed watertight.

The boat is powered by a single 115-horsepower Isuzu diesel engine. The Cape Island design is recognized for its load-carrying capacity and predictable handling in varying sea conditions, characteristics that have made these hulls popular with both commercial and recreational operators for decades.

The rebuild includes new systems throughout, creating a boat ready for extended cruising or fishing use without the weight of deferred maintenance.
