The Lagoon 42 is a modern catamaran designed by VPLP with exterior styling by Patrick le Quément. Built from fiberglass using infusion lamination with balsa core construction, the hull and deck deliver a lightweight yet robust platform. Two Yanmar 4JH57 diesel engines producing 57 hp each power the boat through folding three-blade propellers. The design emphasizes performance under sail with a self-tacking jib and optional Code 0, supported by an aluminum mast stepped further aft to consolidate deck operations in a single working area.
The three-cabin, three-head layout offers sleeping for six to twelve depending on configuration. The owner's cabin on the starboard hull features a double bed with island access and a dedicated head with separate shower. Two additional cabins—one forward and one aft on the port hull—each have double berths with side access and en-suite heads with separate showers. Interior woodwork is finished in Alpi Walnut with Asburgo flooring throughout. Large hull windows and vertical glazing in the coachroof flood the accommodations with natural light.
The saloon showcases a U-shaped galley on the starboard side with extensive counter space and storage, oriented toward the external cockpit. An L-shaped seating area converts to additional sleeping if needed. The helm station sits at the coachroof bulkhead with a composite bimini and sliding panel, improving sightlines and communication between cockpit and saloon. The aft cockpit opens to a large teak table, cockpit fridge, and sun lounging area with lifting backrest.
This example is equipped with extensive systems including a 13.5 kVa Onan generator, 60-liter watermaker, reverse-cycle air conditioning, diesel heater, and washer-dryer. Navigation electronics comprise a B&G Zeus 3S 12-inch display at the helm, HALO20+ radar, AIS transceiver, and VHF. Fresh water capacity is 300 liters with an additional 300-liter tank under the aft port cabin sole. Solar panels and AGM batteries support the DC electrical system. The boat was hauled and received fresh antifoul paint and Prop Speed coating on the folding propellers, with engines and sail drives inspected, fluids changed, and all systems verified operational.
