This 2022 Wesmac 38 is a fiberglass downeast boat built for charter fishing and completed by Mainely Boats in Cushing, Maine. Powered by a single Cummins QSL9 diesel engine producing 450 horsepower, the boat reaches a maximum speed of 23 knots and cruises at 16 knots. A trolling valve allows controlled low-speed operation. The hull is solid fiberglass construction with a 4-blade Nibral propeller and Twin Disc transmission.
The cockpit is designed for working fishermen, with a stern livewell, flush-mounted rod holders, a hydraulic pot hauler to starboard, and two washdown systems—one hydraulic and one DC-powered Rule pump. A day head with cockpit access sits to port. The wheelhouse sits above, accessed through a large watertight door, with seating port and starboard, expansive windows for visibility, and heating for cold weather. Electronics are well-positioned for easy operation and monitoring.
Below, the cabin offers a V-berth with storage forward and counter spaces with electrical outlets and storage amidships. Two manual-flush heads serve the crew, each plumbed to a holding tank with Y-valves. A Bosche water heater supplies the 40-gallon fresh water tank. A Victron inverter and battery charger power 110-volt outlets throughout, backed by two 8D batteries and 30-amp shore power.
Navigation and fish-finding systems include a Si-Tex NavPro 1200F GPS/plotter, Si-Tex Koden MDC-2000 radar, Si-Tex fish finder with 1KW transducer, and Si-Tex SB38 autopilot. Two Standard Horizon VHF radios, a Sea Surface Temperature Gauge, and a forward-facing LED searchlight complete the electronics suite. An 8-person liferaft is aboard.
