The Fountaine Pajot Astrea 42 is a three-cabin catamaran built in 2023 and delivered in France. Designed as the Owner's Version with a semi-flybridge, she combines comfort with practical sail handling for extended offshore cruising. The hull is fiberglass, and twin Volvo diesel engines of 60 hp each power the boat, running on just 750 hours with documented service history. The catamaran features folding propellers and carries jerry cans for extended range.
The electrical and water systems are engineered for autonomy at sea. A lithium battery bank pairs with a 1200-watt solar array and 9-kilowatt generator. A watermaker produces 60 liters per hour. Full air conditioning runs throughout, and a Starlink system provides connectivity. Electronics include a complete Garmin navigation suite with radar, AIS, chart plotter, and ForwardScan depth sounder, plus dual VHF radios and a Fusion sound system.
The sailplan consists of a full-batten Dacron mainsail, furling genoa, and a 120-square-meter gennaker on a fixed bowsprit for downwind performance. Five winches manage the rig, with two powered for shorthanded operation. The deck carries an Ultramarine stainless steel anchor with 100 meters of electropolished Chromox chain and features two autopilots with a remote control.
Accommodations center on a private owner's suite with a double island berth, study area, and dedicated shower. Two additional double cabins and a utility cabin with washing machine complete the sleeping quarters. The galley offers dual refrigerators, a large freezer, three-burner gas stove, Airlux oven, and induction cooktop. Forepeaks include custom storage for efficient organization. A 3.4-meter aluminum Hypalon RIB tender with 20-horsepower outboard completes the inventory.
