The Gunboat 80 is a high-performance racing catamaran built by VPLP with proven competitive results and the flexibility to serve equally well as a cruising platform. At just 28 tonnes, she achieves remarkable speed through extreme weight discipline, large asymmetric boards, and T-foil rudders that enable her to sail on a single hull. In moderate winds she reaches 14–15 knots; in fresh conditions and flat seas, she approaches 30 knots.
Power comes from two Yanmar 4JH110 diesel engines with hydraulic drive propulsion to fixed, retractable four-blade drives. The sailing package is comprehensive: North Sails race main (2023), J1, J2, J4, MHO, FRO, and A2; Doyle furling J2, A2, and A3; tri-sail and storm jib. All forward sails furl on KZ marine furlers with full race running rigging. Deck equipment includes Southern Spars mast and boom with Carbolink standing rigging, six Harken 1125 winches, and A&T instruments with three BFDs and four MFDs integrated with B&G Zeus autopilot. A Whisper Power 8kW generator, Mastervolt lithium batteries with inverters, and CZone digital switching support the systems.
Four cabins, each with ensuite facilities, provide accommodation alongside a large salon and galley. All living areas are air-conditioned. The galley features a Miele combination microwave-convection oven, two-drawer fridge, and pantry fridge-freezer. The salon table converts to cockpit use, and the space includes six director chairs. Davits, two anchors, carbon passarelle, swim ladder, and cockpit shade complete the inventory.
